Weekly changelog: July 9–13, 2026
Motion blur for animation exports, fully authorable 3D distort, a unified image picker, and a big batch of stability fixes across the canvas and design agent.
The big one this week: animation exports finally get real motion blur. Turn it on in Composition settings and panning, spinning, curved motion all pick up the soft, cinematic blur you'd expect out of a real video editor. Right alongside it, node distort graduated from prototype to a full feature. 3D tilt, skew, and corner-pin warps are authorable straight from the Details panel (or by dragging corners on canvas) and now keyframeable too, so your warps can move over time. And if you've ever hunted for stock photos in one menu and icons in another, that's gone: every image source (stock, icons, uploads, your Drive, AI generation) now works identically whether you're using the Insert menu or the Assets sidebar. Beyond the highlights, this week was heavy on stability: a long list of fixes for the design agent, canvas collaboration, and file handling that should just make things feel more solid.
Features(16)
- CanvasAnimation exports now support real motion blur. Turn it on in Composition settings for smoother, more cinematic movement.
- CanvasYou can now warp any shape, text, or image with 3D tilt, skew, or corner-pin distort, right from the Details panel or by dragging corners on the canvas.
- CanvasDistort's tilt, turn, and skew controls are now keyframeable in animations, so your 3D warps can move over time instead of staying static.
- CanvasThe animation preset picker got reorganized and gained seven new one-click looks: draw-on, marching ants, gradient rotate, shadow pulse, corner morph, wobble, and heartbeat.
- CanvasThe Insert menu and Assets sidebar now share the same icon and stock-photo browser.
- CanvasUploading, generating, and browsing your Drive for images now work exactly the same across the Insert modal and the Assets sidebar, including full AI-generation controls in both places.
- CanvasYou can now keyframe a node's scale directly in the Details panel, which is handy for zoom effects that grow images and videos from the center instead of just their bounding box.
- CanvasVideos on your canvas now export as real, playable clips in PowerPoint and Google Slides.
- CanvasPNG, JPG, GIF, and WebP exports now offer a half-size (50%) option alongside the usual 1x–4x sizes.
- CanvasYou can now add a keyframe or an animation preset straight from the timeline. Just hit the "+" that appears on any track.
- CanvasSelecting a node now auto-scrolls the animation timeline to its row, so you never lose track of what you're editing.
- Brand KitThe AI theme wizard is now front and center everywhere you pick a theme, and you can upload a PPTX to build a brand kit straight from an existing deck.
- CanvasThere's a new one-click "Layerize an image" card on the homepage that takes any image straight into an editable canvas.
- CanvasNew keyboard shortcut: Shift+2 zooms the canvas to your current selection.
- CanvasFreeform canvases now have a Canvas details panel where you can set and save a background color.
- CanvasDragging a frame by its floating label now snaps it into alignment with sibling frames and shapes, just like dragging its body always has.
Improvements(12)
- CanvasPolished the Details sidebar and toolbar with scrubbable labels, reorganized sections, and new line and arrow controls.
- CanvasResizing an image or video now keeps its aspect ratio locked by default and scales the fill to match, instead of just cropping it.
- CanvasRedesigned the auto-layout controls in the Details panel with a clearer alignment grid and toggle switches instead of the old segmented rows.
- Cleaned up folder creation and the save-location picker with a more consistent look across desktop and mobile.
- Refreshed the settings dialog's sidebar and mobile menu with an updated look.
- CanvasThe Layers panel now stays fast on canvases with thousands of layers.
- CanvasPolished the animation timeline's header, track hierarchy, and playhead to be clearer and tighter.
- Clarified the "My files" toggle and its icons on the homepage so it's no longer confused with private files.
- AgentSped up the design agent's response time by kicking off its background work earlier in the request.
- CanvasThe animation timeline now stays responsive on canvases with thousands of layers.
- CanvasAnimation timeline tracks now use consistent heights and a clearer color palette, so it's easier to tell track types apart at a glance.
- CanvasImproved the quality and lowered the cost of Layerize's background recreation and image extraction.
Fixes(25)
- CanvasFixed a Firefox bug where warm colors would flip to blue after resizing the browser window.
- CanvasFixed canvases with more than about 100 pages rendering completely blank. You can now build canvases as large as you need.
- Fixed a confusing "you're already signed in" error appearing for users who click Google sign-up while already logged in.
- CanvasFixed double-click text editing not working for shapes nested inside groups.
- MCPFixed some MCP tools, including the one for reading Moda resources, silently disappearing for clients that don't paginate the tool list.
- AgentFixed the design agent silently cutting off long text and Word document attachments instead of reading the rest of the file.
- AgentFixed a bug where deleting a canvas mid-agent-run could crash the job with an unrelated error instead of stopping cleanly.
- MCPRemoved 6 rarely used comment-management tools from the MCP server so the rest of the tool list stays visible in clients with a tool-count limit.
- CanvasFixed embedded canvases endlessly retrying a dead connection in the background after their session token expired.
- AgentBrand KitFixed the design agent failing to load attached images and brand-kit logos because of a corrupted internal image URL.
- CanvasFixed social and carousel canvases sometimes showing a blank legacy animation panel instead of the current one.
- AgentFixed a rare sandbox network error that made the design agent's file reads fail outright instead of retrying.
- AgentCanvasFixed AI-generated PNGs with embedded content-credential metadata being mistaken for SVGs, which broke editing, background removal, and previews.
- AgentFixed images added to a canvas after the initial load not showing up in agent screenshots.
- AgentFixed the design agent's backup AI models sometimes failing or losing context when a conversation had to fall back to a different provider.
- AgentFixed undoing or deleting content while the agent is actively working sometimes wiping out its in-progress edits without warning.
- CanvasFixed flow-diagram canvases occasionally failing to load with a "still syncing" error.
- AgentCanvasFixed the design agent being unable to set a star shape's point count or inner-radius ratio when creating it.
- CanvasFixed clipped Export and Zoom menus in Freeform canvases, plus a blank Layers panel and a few other rough edges in the newer Freeform editor.
- AgentFixed the agent's sandboxed file drive failing to start for every session.
- CanvasFixed text reconstructed from an image via Layerize coming out noticeably smaller than it was in the original.
- Fixed stale cached thumbnails and images sometimes being served after the underlying file had already changed.
- Fixed duplicate folder names being allowed at the top level of your files.
- CanvasFixed a rare crash reading files from a canvas that someone else was actively co-editing.
- CanvasFixed cropped or repositioned images exporting incorrectly to PowerPoint.
