A vCard is the standard contact-exchange format: one small text file that iPhone and Android contacts, Outlook, Gmail, and macOS Contacts all import directly. Opening the file on a phone offers to add the contact; attaching it to an email lets the recipient save your details in one tap instead of typing them. This builder produces vCard 3.0, the version with the widest support across current and older apps.
Multiple phones and emails, with types
A real contact card rarely has just one number. Add up to four phones and four emails, each labeled — mobile, work, or home — and the labels carry through into the contact app, so “work” shows next to the office line the way it would if the recipient had typed it themselves. The address block is structured too: street, city, region, postal code, and country land in the right contact fields rather than one lump of text.
Company-only cards
A vCard doesn’t have to be a person. Leave the name fields empty and fill in the company to generate a card for a business — a support line, a storefront, an agency. The card’s display name falls back to the organization automatically, which is the difference between a contact that shows as “Acme Support” and one that imports blank.
Where to use the file (and the raw text)
The .vcf file works as an email-signature attachment, a download link on a contact page, or a file shared over AirDrop or chat. The raw text shown under the download is the exact file content — useful when a system asks you to paste vCard data rather than upload it, or to spot-check what the file contains. Frequently asked questions
Which devices and apps can import the file?
iPhone and Android (both offer “add contact” on opening the file), Outlook, Gmail and Google Contacts, macOS Contacts, and effectively every CRM with a contact-import feature. vCard 3.0 has been the interoperability baseline for two decades.
Why vCard 3.0 and not 4.0?
Version 4.0 has been out since 2011 but support is still uneven — some Android and Outlook versions mis-handle its fields, while 3.0 imports cleanly everywhere. Nothing on this form needs a 4.0-only capability, so 3.0 is the safer output.
Can one file hold several contacts?
The format allows it — .vcf files can be concatenated, and phone backup exports do exactly that. This builder makes one card at a time; to distribute a team’s contacts, generate a file per person or paste the raw text of each card into one file, one after another.
Are my details uploaded anywhere?
No. The card is assembled and downloaded entirely in your browser — nothing you type leaves this page. That’s worth knowing for a file that is, by definition, personal information.
What if a field contains commas or line breaks?
The vCard format requires special characters — commas, semicolons, line breaks — to be escaped, and the builder does that automatically. A note with several lines or a company name like “Smith, Jones & Co” imports intact instead of splitting into fragments.
